This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a sweet family in my own neighborhood. When I talked with the mom of this family in our pre-session correspondence, she said they had done the portraits last year, and this year they were looking for a less stressful, more authentic storybook style. I get a little giddy when I hear those words.
This is why I love home sessions. Less stress. More authentic. Capturing things like stories, dancing on brother’s bed with puppy (to 80’s rock music), big brother climbing on top of the playset in the backyard, swinging and sliding and throwing around the football. Hugs from Nana and Papa who were visiting from Florida, little sister pointing at airplanes and finding the tiny piece of moon up the sky and never staying still for more than a second. Flower picking and hand holding and scooter riding and guitar playing. Guitar playing with dad.
A little slice of their life right now. (Music by Joshua Radin.)
