For her little friend party this year Evie decided she’d like to swim at her Nana’s pool. (Thank you, Nana, for letting us do so!) I told her that if we did this she could only invite five friends and that it would be pretty low-key….swimming, presents, cupcakes. She agreed. I love this about her. That she didn’t need a big party and she didn’t need to invite everyone she knows. She was very content just being with just a few of her classmates and neighbor girls and doing one of her favorite things…swimming. I guess she’s a little bit like her mama in that way.
They had a wonderful time. So wonderful, in fact, that I got in touch with all of her friends’ parents and asked if they could all stay longer. Two hours just wasn’t enough time for all the fun they were having! I loved seeing them play and interact. I loved watching Evie open her cards and gifts with such care and attentiveness. I loved the goofiness, the jumps into the pool, the pretending to be mermaids, the frosting faces. It was a very successful party and I can only hope she might want to do the same thing next year.
